Bryan R. Johnson, O.D.
Dr. Bryan Johnson joined the Balian Eye Center in 2006 after graduating from Michigan State University and earning his doctorate at The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. He also currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor for the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University.
Dr. Johnson works with a multitude of contact lens fits including the new Scleral Lens, which aims to improve the best corrected vision for patients dealing with corneal dystrophies, keratoconus or a history of poor refractive surgery outcomes. Scleral Lenses are also used to improve long-term comfort in patients dealing with pain attributed to corneal pathologies. Such pathologies include keratitis secondary to Sjogren’s syndrome or herpetic virus, as well as maintaining patients with severe chronic dry eye.
In addition, Dr. Johnson has extensive experience helping patients considering cataract surgery with decisions regarding implant options (standard vs. premium, toric or hi-tech intraocular lenses) to meet an individual patient’s post-operative refractive outcome.
Other areas of focus include utilizing the state-of-the-art technology available at the Balian Eye Center to help diagnosis and treat Glaucoma and Ocular Surface Disease, as well as perform diabetic evaluations and general ocular health examinations.
